Did you know?

Since 2021, the museum’s façade has been adorned with a digital clock designed by Geneva artist Gianni Motti. The Big Crunch Clock, which is modelled on the ubiquitous countdown clocks of the pre-millennium era, lives up to its name — it ticks down the time remaining until the end of the world, or more precisely, until the sun collapses in roughly five billion years. It’s a clock counting down to its own demise.

The Musée d’art et d’histoire (MAH), located in the heart of Geneva’s Old Town, is one of Switzerland’s largest museums.

The museum, which was inaugurated in 1910 and designed by architect Marc Camoletti, spans five floors dedicated to fine arts, applied arts, and archaeology, and houses a collection of over 650,000 objects spanning 15,000 years of history. Each year, it presents around ten temporary exhibitions. The MAH is a true cultural gem that invites visitors on a journey through history, art, and tradition, all within a remarkable urban and architectural setting.
