Did you know?

Appearing more than 200 million years ago, Wollemia nobilis, or Wollemi pine, a contemporary of the dinosaurs, was long considered extinct. Rediscovered in 1994 in an isolated gorge in Wollemi National Park, Australia, this exceptional tree, of which there are now only about 100 remaining, is classified as critically endangered. To help protect it, the Geneva Botanical Garden is participating in the Wollemi Pine Metacollection Project, an international conservation program. Six specimens have been entrusted to the garden and are now being cultivated in Geneva!

Through its research, collections, conservation efforts for endangered species, and commitment to education and awareness, the Geneva Botanical Garden works to protect life and puts botanical science at the service of our future.

Come and discover a biodiversity reserve offering an immersion in varied ecosystems with more than 11,000 plant species from around the world spread over 28 hectares of organic cultivation.

At the Geneva Botanical Garden, botany is experienced and shared through a space dedicated to scientific mediation, a rich program of activities, workshops, and tours, educational trails for schools, and exhibitions that offer a different perspective on living things.

It is a privileged place to observe, understand, and marvel at the richness of the plant and fungal world.
