Digital museum
Digital technology is transforming the museum experience
Explore online collections, virtual tours, and interactive content — tools that let you experience art in new ways, whether from the comfort of your home or accompanying your visit to the museum.
Online collections
What’s the point in digitising museum collections?
To make them accessible to everyone, everywhere, at all times!
By putting their works online, a number of museums in Geneva are sharing works that might go unnoticed, are too fragile or kept in the archives.
Digitisation not only helps to preserve artworks and share their histories, but also facilitates scientific research and encourages collaboration between cultural institutions on an international scale.
Mirabilia
The Mirabilia website brings together nearly 300 objects and works considered to be unusual wonders preserved by the City of Geneva’s museums. Discover them by theme (mountains, flowers, drawings, etc.) or by visiting the online exhibitions.
An open-air museum
Nearly 300 works from the City of Geneva’s Fond d’art municipal contemporain (FMAC) can be seen in our streets and public squares. Download the web app to explore the ones around you.
On the FMAC website, you can also access their video collection.
Tools to help you with your visit
Whether you prefer guided tours or digital companions, the Musées de Genève offer a range of tools for visitors of all ages to explore works of art at their own pace, both on-site and remotely. With mobile apps, interactive tours, and online reconstructions, these tools provide an engaging and enriched experience that brings culture to life. While they don’t replace in-person visits, they complement and enhance them, boosting accessibility, inclusion, and connection with audiences, no matter where you are.
As each museum has its own system, you will find all the relevant information on their websites.
